Palden Lhamo (Shiri Devi) festival

The Palden Lhamo festival features a procession in Lhasa around the Bhakor and Jokang temple, bearing Palden Lhamo, one of the state protective deity of the Tibetan Buddhism. The women in Lhasa regard it as the women’s festival day and they go to make offering to Palden Lhamo in Jokang temple in the finest dress and then they have party in the afternoon with singing, dancing etc. If you travel to Tibet during occasion, you will encounter lots of Tibetan traditional festivals and you will also see thousands of Tibetan pilgrims from all over the regions of Tibet including, Kham, the further eastern forest region of Tibet and Amdo.
