Druk Path trek begins in Paro valley after arrival in Paro international airport. In order to acclimatize to the altitude, we will spend two day sin Paro, taking a short hike to Taktshang monastery, Tiger’s nest and walking around Bhutan’s most beautiful town where they have the most beautiful Bhutanese traditional houses.

Comparing to the trek in Tibet or Nepal near Everest region, Druk Path trek is not a very difficult trek but it is a very beautiful trekking in Bhutan. You will explore beautiful herders camp, surrounded by Yak and Dri, beautiful small lakes, green jungle, fantastic view of Jumolhari snow mountain which is a border between Bhutan and Yadong in Tibet China.

During Druk Path trek, you will meet some nomads of Bhutan and Dzong or monasteries. You can visit the nomad the camp or Dzong and monasteries during your trekking in Bhutan. Through your local Bhutanese English speaking guide, you can communicate with the monasteries or nomads about their daily lives, their children’s education or about the meditation or philosophy studies inside the monasteries.

Druk Path trek connects the valley between Paro and Thimpu in Bhutan. This beautiful trekking in Bhutan gives you a chance to really enjoy the nature of Bhutan and instead of reaching Thimpu from Paro in one hour and 20 minutes by vehicle, you can follow off the beaten trail or follow the ancient way of reaching Thimpu from Paro with pack horses or donkeys by passing high mountain passes. The valley between Paro and Thimphu has beautiful views of lush green forest, beautiful lakes,, cultural Dzong and monasteries, beautiful view of snow peaked mountains and nomadic lives of Bhutan. The best time to do Druk Path trek is from March to June & September to November. There are many other nice Bhutan treks available during this period of time.

    Day 01: Arrival in Paro international airport and transfer to downtown ( 2250m/5km ) Hotel on LD Druk Airways flight to Bhutan is one of the most spectacular in entire Himalayas. Whether flying along the Himalayan range from Kathmandu or over the foothills from Kolkatta, each flight is a mesmerizing aeronautical feat and offers an exciting descent into the Kingdom. On arrival at Paro airport, immigration and custom formalities and then received by our representative and transfer to the hotel. Evening take a stroll around town’s main street. Overnight at the hotel in Paro.

  • Day 02: Paro Sightseeing. Hotel on BLD

    Morning take an excursion to Taktsang Monastery, also known as Tiger’s Nest. It is believed that Guru Rinpoche, the father of the Bhutanese strain of Mahayana Buddhism, arrived here on the back of a tigress and meditated at this monastery. Taktsang was severely damaged by fire in year 1998 and now has been restored in its original grandeur. After lunch, visit Ta Dzong, the National Museum. The museum collection includes ancient Bhutanese art and artifacts, weapons and country’s exquisite postage stamps. Then walk down the trail to visit Rinpung Dzong situated at commanding height, overlooking Paro valley. This Dzong is symbolic as the religious and secular centre of all affairs of the valley. Evening visit a traditional farm house to get an idea on lifestyle of local people.

  • Day 03: Paro to Jele Dzong ( 3350m/8Km/3-4 h) Hotel on BLD {{ Altitude gain 1100m Altitude loss : 0 Difficulty: Moderate : }}

    From Paro drive one hour, through farm road till Damchena village 2880 above National Museum . After the farm road trail gradually ascend up hill through the forest of pine, fir &Rhododendron trees. After trekking 2 – 3 hours up hill you reach to ridge marked with a small chorten stupa made with piled of stone before just before Jele Dzong. Tonight’s camp is in a yak pasture below Jele Dzong which is perched on the ridge. 3480metres If the weather is clear, you can see the upper Paro valley far below, with Jumolhari and other snowcapped peaks in the distance. Evening: Visit the JeleDzong Monastery built in 15th century by Ngawang Chogyel now houses the monks school under Paro Dzong

  • Day 04: Jele Dzong to Jangchulakha ( 3630m/10km/5-6h ) Camp on BLD {{ Altitude gain: 280m Altitude loss : 50 m Difficulty: Moderate }}

    Begin trek climbing up Jelela Pass 3560m) walking through the ridge of Jele Dzong and then ascend gradually up around the cone shaped hill making few short descend, through the Rhododendron, Fir and cider forest to the Jangchu lhakha Meadow. You may seek yaks and yak herders around your camp site in early spring and late autumn. Overnight: Camp Altitude : 3760 m distance 10 Km

  • Day 05: Jangchulakha to Jimilangtso ( 3730m/11Km/5 h ) Camp on BLD {{ Altitude gain: 330 Altitude loss : 230 Difficulty: Moderate }}

    After a short climb from the camp you reach at Tsokam Yak herders camp, where you come across two trails right goes to Larithang and Tseluney. Left trail goes to Jimilangtso which leads uphill to the ridge of Jangchulhakha and follows through the ridge to Langi Bja La rock which looks like a ox head, from here trail ascend up hill for about one hour and descends down to The campsite by the lake Jimilangtso. 3870m On clear day you can see the view of Jumolhari and Jewchu drakey from the ridge Jimilangtso and Jangchulhakha.

  • Day 06: Jimilangtso to Simkota ( 3930m/11Km/4-5 h) Camp on BLD {{ Altitude gain : 240m Altitude loss : 40m Difficulty: Moderate }}

    Jimilangtso - Simkota The trail leads gradual up hill through dwarf rhododendron trees and then passes by lake Jenetso at 3950m. From Janetso trail leads up hill to the Pass at 4150 between Simkota and Janetso for 3 hour & descends shortly to Simkota Camp above the Lake altitude : 4110 m

  • Day 07: Simkota to Thimphu ( 2350m/18Km/6-7 h ) Hotel on BLD {{ Altitude gain : 40m Altitude loss : 1590 m Difficulty: Moderate }}

    Simkota – Phajoding – Thimphu (18 Km) From Camp trek begins with a gradual climb up to Labanala 4210m highest pass on druk path then trail descends and winds through the dwarf Rhododendron ridge till the Phumela pass 4080m above Phajoding. If the weather permits, you will have a spectacular view of Mount Gangkhar Punsum", the highest mountain in Bhutan as well as other Himalayan mountain ranges . From here, the trek takes you downhill to Phajoding Monastery 3750M where you halt for a Lunch break during the final lap of trek downhill to Thimphu. In Motithang at 2520 m Rainbow transport will receive you and take you to your hotel for a nice hot bath/shower.

  • Day 08: Thimphu sightseeing tour . Hotel on BLD

    Morning visit, Trashichhoedzong, situated on the banks of Wang Chhu. It is home of the National Assembly and the summer residence of capital's venerated monastic community. The Dzong is the impressive result of a redesign of the original medieval structure sanctioned by the Third King, HM Jigme Dorji Wangchuck, when he moved Bhutan's permanent capital to Thimphu. Bhutan's National Library is located close to the Thangkha painting school and contains arguably the best collection of religious and historic literature in the Himalayas. The Textile and Folk Heritage Museum opened in year 2001 is fascinating testimony of the Bhutanese material culture and living traditions. The Memorial Chhorten, a pious landmark for Thimphu's residents, was erected in 1974 by the mother of Third King, in memory of her son. Visit Handicrafts Emporium which displays wide assortment of beautifully hand-woven and crafted products. Overnight at the hotel in Thimphu.

  • Day 09: Thimphu to Punakha ( 1310m/85km/2 h 26 min) Hotel on BLD

    Drive to Punakha (85 Km/2 hours 26 minutes ). Enroute stop at Dochula Pass (3,150 m.) Enjoy a spectacular view of the ranges of the eastern Himalayas if the sky is clear. We will also come across 108 stupas that lend the place an air of deep spirituality. Then drive downhill to the Temple of Fertility at Lobesa, dedicated to the 15th century Buddhist master and iconoclast Drukpa Kuenley, also known as the Divine Madman. Today, the temple is frequented by barren couples to receive the blessings of fertility from a 15th century wooden phallus. Continue to Punakha. After Lunch: Visit Our most significant visit today is Punakha Dzong, a magnificent castle-fortress that served as the old capital of Bhutan. It is considered the best specimen of Bhutanese architecture. Built in 1637 on the confluence of the Pho Chu (Male River) and Mo Chu (Female River,) this fortress monastery is the preserve of Bhutan’s most precious religious relics and treasures. It is in this monument that the kings of Bhutan are crowned and the head of Buddhism in Bhutan (Chief Abbot), is anointed and Visit Walakha Nunnery.

  • Day 10: Punakha to Paro ( 2250m/126km/3 h 21 min ) Hotel on BLD

    We retrace our journey today, back to Paro via Thimphu where we will stop for lunch. Enroute, we will stop over to enjoy scenic landscapes and places of interest such as the Botanical Park at Lamperi and Tachog Lhakhang (temple) which has an iron chain bridge cast in the 14th century. On reaching Paro. we will visit Kyichu Lhakang which was built by the Tibetan King Songtsan Gampo prior to the construction of the Jokang temple which is the most sacred temple in Tibet.

  • Day 11: Paro town to Paro airport ( 2250m/5km/10 min ) End the trip.

    We say good by to the most beautiful Paro valley and enjoy a great view of the Himalayan mountain peaks including Everest from your aeroplane.
