This 13 days Nepal to Tibet motor bike tour is started from Kathmandu which is the capital city of Nepal and it is one of the most popular gateway cities to Tibet. In order to get China visa, you will be spending 3 days in Kathmandu, visiting around the Kathmandu valley. Once you get China visa, you will be driving motor bike from Kathmandu to Kyirong border which is the newly opened border between Tibet and Nepal after a badly damaged earth quake in Nepal. Prior to the earth quake, all the tourists traveled through Dzangmu border and it was much easier and closer to each other.

The road from Kathmandu to Kyirong border is not in a good condition and it takes you around 8-9 hours drive eventhough the distance is only 150km. Nepalese call the border as Sybrubisy border which is close to the Langthang national park in Nepal and it is a very famous trekking destination in Nepal.

You will be driving through hill side and forested landscape, finally reach Sybrubisi at Nepali side and Kyirong at Tibet side, cross the border and then continue to Kyirong town at the distance of 20km. The road condition at Tibet side is extremely nice and wide.

This beautiful 13 days Nepal to Tibet overland motor bike tour take you to explore the most beautiful overland tour along the great Himalayan mountain range such as a great view of Mt Everest, Mt Jo Oyu, Shisha Bangma etc and beautiful Tibetan villages and it’s people. You will be driving through friendship highway and then to Shigatse, the second largest city of Tibet and the seat of the Penchen Lama, continue driving through Gyantse town with it’s beautiful large fertile land and Palchoe monastery and Kubum Pagoda stupa, Giant Noejin Kangsang snow mountain and it’s beautiful glacier, the most beautiful and turquoise colored Yamdrok lake, passing by through, finally reaching Lhasa, the capital city of Tibet and the cultural center of Tibet. After visiting Lhasa around including the most famous Potala Palace, Jokang temple which are the world heritage cultural site.

After visiting the most important cultural sites of Tibet, you will be driving to Namtso lake, located at northern part of Tibet and it is the most beautiful lake on the northern plateau and the tourists gave it a new name call sky lake since it is extremely big and blue located on a very high plateau at the elevation of 4718m. Visiting Namtso lake and the most beautiful Nyenchen Thangla mountain range which is the largest mountain range next to Himalayan mountain range. From Namtso lake, you will continue driving to Shigatse through northern route along the Brahmaputra river, continue driving towards Everest base camp. Crossing several different 5000m high mountain passes and from the top of the Pangla pass, you will have a fantastic view of Mt Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Jo Oyu, Shisha Bangma. The view is extremely beautiful and unique. Continue driving to Chozom village, which is the place where there is a newly established conservative bus checkpoint so from there, you can not drive the motor bike to Rongbuk monastery since all the vehicles, will have to leave at the checkpoint and take the Everest electronic conservative bus to Rongbuk monastery at the distance of 20km.

From Rongbuk, you will walk around 15 minutes distance to the Everest base camp and enjoy the most beautiful view of Mt Everest.

Spending overnight in Rongbuk monastery, you will see the most beautiful view of Mt Everest with sun rise and sun set.     Our Tibetan guide and driver will pick you up at the border and make the necessary immigration paper work and then continue driving to Kyirong town at the distance of 20Km.

  • Day 02: Kyirong-Pekutso-New Tingri, known as Shegar. ( 4050Mts/270Km, 6 hours ride ) Tibet roof of the world hotel on B. B

    After breakfast, you will start your journey to new Tingri You will pass by the most sacred cave of Milarepa Yogi which dates back to the 11th century and also the birth place of Milarepa. Continue driving through Gongthang la pass at the elevation of over 5000m and then drive along Pekutso lake and continue to old Tingri at the distance of around 100Km from Pekutso. The scenery is extremely beautiful with Shisha Bangma snow mountain on the right and Pekutso on the left . If the weather is nice, you will see Mount Everest on the way to old Tingri. You will continue driving on the friendship highway and reach new Tingri after one hour drive.

  • Day 03: Shegar-Shigatse ( 3900Mts /240Km, 6-7 hours ride ) Mansarovar hotel or similar on B. B

    You will start your tour at around 9.30Am from your hotel and drive through big mountain passes, Gyatso la, 5200mts and Tsola, 4500mts and some beautiful villages. You will have lunch in Lhatse and continue to Shigatse which is the second largest city of Tibet and it is the biggest agricultural land of Tibet.

  • Day 04: Shigatse-Gyantse ( 3950Mts/90Km, two hours and 30 minutes ride ) Yuthok Tibetan hotel new wing or similar on B. B

    You will start your tour at around 9Am from your hotel and then drive to Gyantse. Have lunch in Gyangtse and then Visit Palchoe monastery and Kubum Pagoda stupa. In the afternoon, explore the old town of Gyantse.

  • Day 05: Gyantse-Yamdrok lake-Lhasa ( 3650Mts/270Km, 6 hours ride ) New Mandala hotel or similar on B. B

    You will start your tour at around 9Am from your hotel and then drive towards Lhasa via 3 big mountain passes, Simila, Karo La, Kampa La, respectively. Karola is the highest pass among them which is over 5000Mts with it's most beautiful glaciers, beautiful Yamdrok lake emerged as coral color from the top of Kampala pass. You will have your lunch at Nakartse country which is just between the Yamdrok lake and Karola glaciers.

  • Day 06: Sightseeing tour in Lhasa by van or bus or by walk ( 10km for the day, ), Visit Potala Palace, Jokang temple, Bharkor Bazar. New Mandala hotel or similar on B. B

    After breakfast, you will go to the Potala Palace either by vehicle transfer or by walk depending on clients own interest. Visit Potala Palace which is considered one of the seven wonders of the world. It is held sacred by Tibetans as the former residence of successive Dalai Lamas, and is one of Tibet's most holy pilgrimage sites. A palace was originally built in the 7 th century by King Songtsen Gampo, and was believed to have been nine stories high, but around the 9 th century it is believed to have been destroyed by a big fire. The present Potala Palace was constructed by the great fifth Dalai Lama in the 17th century. The Potala Palace is divided into two sections, the White Palace (completed in 1653) and Red palace (completed 1694). It has more than one thousand rooms and is thirteen stories high. The White Palace was secular in nature and mainly used for government administration, whilst the Red palace was mainly used for religious functions and still has numerous chapels, including those containing reliquary stupa of the successive Dalai Lamas which are richly decorated in gold, silver and semi-precious stones. After lunch, you will walk to Jokang temple. The Jokang temple is Tibet’s most sacred temple, the main point of pilgrims from the entire Tibetan plateau. Located at the heart of the ancient town of Lhasa, it was built in the 7th century by the Tibetan King Songtsen Gampo’s queen Bhrikuti on a site identified by Queen Wencheng according to her geomantic calculation. The temple is 3 stories high and it is constructed with enormous chapels including the most sacred statue of Budhha Shakyamuni, enshrined. It has around 70 monks nowadays. Walk around the ANCIENT BHARKOR STREET which is the most sacred pilgrimage site in Lhasa and it is full of pilgrims from down till dusk. There are four huge prayer flags situated in Bhakor street which surrounds the Jokang, known respectively as Gadhen Dharchen in the northeast, Juyak Dharchen in the west, Kelsang Dharchen in the southwest and SharKyaring Dharchen in the southeast. The Bharkor street is the most active market in all Tibet and it is possible to purchase traditional Tibetan artifacts, religious implements, antiques, modern goods, books, music, clothing, spices, fresh meat and vegetable.

  • Day 07: Sightseeing tour in Lhasa by van or bus, ( 30km for the day ) Visit Drepung and Sera monasteries. New Mandala hotel or similar on BB

    After breakfast, drive to Drepung monastery which will take you 15 minutes drive from your hotel. DREPUNG MONASTERY is the largest monastery in Tibet, built in the 15th century by Jamyang Choeje who is one of Tsongkapa’s foremost disciple. The monastery is beautifully located up in a hill at the distance of 7 Km from the old section of the city and it is the biggest monastery in Tibetan Buddhism. The monastery has four main colleges with numerous small chapels and house chapels, known as Khangtsen in Tibetan. There are around six hundred monks nowadays. Afternoon, visit Sera and Norbu Lingka. SERA MONASTERY was founded in around 15th century by Jamchen Choeje who is another famous disciple of Tsongka pa and it is the second largest monastery of Tibet. There are three big colleges with numerous chapels and house chapels. The most attraction to visit this monastery is to see the monks debating which hold from 3-5Pm everyday apart from Sunday.

  • Day 08: Drive Lhasa-Namtso lake (4718Mts/ 250Km )-Damxiong county (4200m/290km, 7 hours ride ). Pema hotel or similar on BB

    After breakfast, you will start the bike ride journey to Namtso lake with a beautiful view of Nyenchen Thangla range and grassland with a nomad camp in the northern Tibetan plateau. The distance from Lhasa to Namtso lake is 250km and the road condition is very good but since there is a speed limit, you always need to pay attention on the speed limit and drive according to the traffic rule. After crossing Lagen la pass at the elevation of over 5000m above sea level, from the top of the pass, you will have a fantastic view of entire Namtso lake and it’s beautiful grassland as well as the snow capped mountain of Nyenchen Thangla range. Explore Namtso lake and walk around Tashi Do hermitage where there are lots of caves and small monastery. NAMTSO LAKE at (4,700Meters) is one of the biggest lakes in Tibet and is 70Km long and 30Km wide. The landscape is dominated by the snow peak of Nyenchen Thangla to the south west of the lake. Tashi Do hermitage stands on a promontory with more than 50 small caves including some small chapels. Pilgrims do a half hour walk (kora) around Tashi Do hermitage. We will spend around two hours around Namtso lake and Tashi do hermitage and then return to Damxiong county for the night to stay.

  • Day 09: Drive Damxiong county-Yampachen-Nyemo county-Tadruka ferry-Shigatse ( 3900m/335km, 7-8 hours ride ) Mansarovar hotel or similar on BB

    You will start driving from Damxiong county along the Qinghai Tibetan highway at the distance of 100km with a beautiful view of Tibetan nomad camp and green grassland. From Yampachen hot spring, you will be driving towards 318 national high way or known as friendship highway through beautiful valley of Nyenmo county and it’s beautiful barley fields. Reaching the main road of friendship highway, continue to Shigatse along the Brahmaputra river.

  • Day 10: Drive from Shigatse to Sakya monastery (4050Mts/ 150KM, 4 hours ride ) Yuanfu Hotel on BB

    You will start your tour at around 8.30Am from your hotel and drive through Tsola pass 4500Mts and some beautiful villages passing by on the way. You will have lunch in Sakya and visit the Sakya monastery and walk around the monastery.

  • Day 11: Drive from Sakya-Drangthang-Shegar-Chozom conservative bus entry checkpoint. ( 4950Mts/260Km, 6-7 hours ride ) Rongbuk monastery ( 5000m/20km ) Guest house on BB

    You will start the tour at 8.30 Am and drive through Drila pass 5000Mts from which you will have a fantastic view of Mount Everest, Lhotse and Makalu respectively which are over 8000Mts. Continue driving through beautiful wilderness landscape with the view of Himalayan mountain range, reaching Shegar, crossing the checkpoint and continue to Chozom by bike by passing Pangla pass. From the top of the Pangla pass, you will have a great view of Mt Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Shisha Bangma, Jo Oyu etc. Continue driving to Chozom conservative bus checkpoint entry gate and from there the motor bikes are not allowed to ride to Rongbuk monastery so you need to leave the motor bikes here and go to Rongbuk monastery by national Everest conservative bus at the distance of 20km. You can walk to the new Everest base camp ( 5000m, 10 minutes walk) and will enjoy the most beautiful view of Mt Everest from the base camp. When the sun sets or sun rise, don’t miss to see the most beautiful view of Mt Everest.

  • Day 12: Drive from Rongbuk to Kyirong town. ( 2800m / 270Km, 6 hours ride ) Phuntsok Rebsal Hotel or similar on B.B

    Morning, enjoy having a great view of Mt Everest from Rongbuk monastery and by around 10.30 Am, you start riding and drive through a rough road for 65Km until you get to the friendship high way where Old Dingri is located. Old Dingri is one of the popular places to stop a night in order to view mount Everest for tourists especially for those who are unable to go to Mount Everest because of altitude problem. You will drive through the last pass after Pekutso. From the top of those places, you will say final good bye to the beautiful Himalayan range including Shisha Bangma mountain which is also over 8000Mts and popular to the mountain climbers.

  • Day 13: Drive to Sybrubisi border ( 20Km, one hour ride ) and then continue to Kathmandu. (1300Mts/150Km )

    Drive for 20km distance from Kyirong and meet by our representative from Nepal , clear immigration procedure and obtain your Nepali visa & transfer to Kathmandu . Driving up and down in the forested mountain with beautiful villages on the slops of the both side mountains.
