Tsum valley was totally closed region to the tourists in Nepal until 2008. In 2008, the Nepal government opened to the tourists but it has still been remained as one of the restricted regions in Nepal.

The region of Tsum valley once being part of Tibet looks completely different from what you will find elsewhere in Nepal. The people of Tsum Valley or the Tsumbas belong to Tibetan origin with their own ancient form of dialect, art, culture and religion. Even today, you can see tradition of the people in Tsum valley is totally the same as Tibetans such as the same Buddhist monasteries and temples, same architecture of the traditional houses, prayer flags and wind-horse on the roof of the mountain passes or roof top, marriage festival and way of getting marriage including a few brothers can marry a same wife in order to have a better wealth in the family.

During Tsum valley trek, you will enjoy seeing beautiful dense forest gorge, water falls, clean stream water, different kinds of villages, green rice and barley fields, beautiful Tibetan styled traditional houses, unique and old Buddhist monasteries and nunneries,  smiling and kind people, lots of Yaks and other cattle, many different kinds of wild life including blue sheep, wolfs so on and some of the best panoramic view of the Himalayan Mountain ranges including Manaslu, Annapurna etc.

Tsum valley trek route was a very famous trading route between Tibet and Nepal in the olden days and they used to exchange salt, sugar, cloth, barley and some other products by carrying on the Yak and Horses as a group of Himalayan caravan.
