All the participants arrived in Lhasa, the capital city of Tibet and it is the center for both religion and politics of Tibet. Lhasa is also the seat of the Potala Palace and Jokang temple which are the world’s heritage sites.

We planned a rest and acclimatization day in Lhasa on their arrival and a short hike to Sera Wutse, the small hermitage monastery above Sera monastery. It was a short half day hike around Sera monastery in order acclimatize to the high altitude. Usually, a normal tourists who trekked for around 4-5 hours but those participants just finished the hike within two hours’ time.

The first part of the Mountain Trail Run in Tibet was begun in a village called Namgyel Shol near Gongkar Airport and from there, all the participants ran across a mountain pass called Jeshul La pass at the elevation of 5100m. From the top of the pass, you could see a great view of entire Yamdrok lake. Continued running towards Yamdrok lake and reached the camp site. The first part of the Mountain Trail Run in Tibet around Yamdrok lake and then took a bus towards Tinggye county in the west and from there, we again started our second trail run in Tibet all the way to Everest Base Camp which is a real adventure of Tibet.

Our new program of Mountain Trail Run in Tibet is going to start from Nyingtri. The participants can arrive in Nyingtri directly from Chengdu by flight and spend a day in Nyingtri. Nyingtri is one of the 7 cities in Tibet, located to the east of Lhasa city at the distance of 420km and it is the lowest altitude of the places in Tibet. Nyingtri is a different environment than other cities in Tibet as it is densely surrounded by forest and the city is located at the bank of the Nyiyang river with the elevation of 2900m. The entire area of Nyingtri is very green and there are beautiful snow mountains, green grassland, Brahmaputra River and beautiful lakes including Darksum lake.

On the first day of the Mountain Trail Run in Tibet, we are going to have a short trekking near old Nyingtri town. You can have a great view of entire Nyiyang River valley, beautiful Tibetan villages and Bon Monasteries. Today is the acclimatization of the first day of the Shambhala Roof of the World Trail Run. The water of the lake is very clear and blue, waves like mirrors and it is surrounded by beautiful snow-capped mountains and densely virgin forest.
